Class Parents
Class Parents for the Academic Year 2010-2011
Manthan finds it difficult to reach out to all parents during certain occasions such as Monsoon days. When the sun shines, it shines all over Chennai but when it rains, it rains in one part and there is no rain or less rain in another part of the city. When Manthan proposes a holiday based on weather forecast, one finds the sun shining that day. Whenever the Government declares a holiday, the rains stop completely. In order to arrive at a better decision, Manthan has decided to introduce the concept of Class Parents. Manthan discussed this issue with some of the parents.

The role of Class Parents is to help the school arrive at better decisions in times of emergencies. Class Parents have to call up and inform the management about the current situation in their area before 7AM.

Manthan will take a decision based on interaction with class parents, weather report, access to school from different areas, and government decisions (announced before 7.45 AM - before the first van pickup time). More than 70% of Manthan students use transport facility that too from pickup points. In view of this, Manthan finds it difficult to reach children back home once the pickup has started.

If management has to close the school for the day due to sudden developments such as political unrest or bad weather, they will take a decision based on feedback from Class Parents and Government Notifications.

All other parents will have to call up these Class Parents for information. Each Class Parent’s responsibility will be to handle only a few calls. This will reduce the time taken to convey the news to every one in the class. The number of Class Parents will increase with increasing class size, number of classes and sections.

Kindly refer to Manthan circular for the names of Class Parents.

Class Parents can be contacted between 7.15 AM and 8.15 AM on weekdays and anytime during sudden emergencies.

The decision to send the child to school on any day is the responsibility of parents.
